Creative Chemistry Day 5

Well I really had good intentions of keeping up on Tim's Creative Chemistry 101 class, that old thing of work really got in the way last week!! grrr
I did watch all the video's and the amount of information he is covering is fantastic!! If you haven't signed up yet it is not to late, you have a lifetime access to the information. It is the most informative class I have ever taken!!
I finally had a chance to get in the craft room this weekend and work on some of the tags. I'm waiting on a few supplies to come in so I jumped on to day 5, here are the tags I made. Fun, fun, fun!! I'm really loving this class!!

Have a good one!!

ATB

Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers and well wishes for my sister, I really appreciated it. Sorry to say she lost her battle and passed away Aug. 31st. She was more then just a sister to me, she was a second mom, sister and a great friend! I think we are all still in shock and trying to deal with it. She was a very special lady and will be missed by all!! After two deaths in the family less then two weeks a part, I have been emotionally drained. I'm getting better and I'm sure it is just going to take time.

Before all this happened I had signed up for a ATB swap on All Things Tim yahoo group, luckily I had started it awhile ago and managed to get it put together and in the mail before everything got real bad. I was inspired by Linda Ledbetter http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ for the embossed dress form and spools, so tryed my hand at it and I really liked the results!! Thank you Linda!!
I embossed the dress form stamp on grunge board, the flower is a prima flower dipped in utee and the flourish I first inked with peeled paint and then covered it with peeled paint stickles. I used Tim Holtz paper and embellishments. The needle was a blue plastic needle and I colored it with Adirondack alcohol ink mixatives silver, it doesn't show to well in the pic but it worked great! Now seeing these pics I wish I would have also stamped on the back of the little sign!! Next time!! lol

So hope to get back to some creativeness here in the near future and get back to normal a little! Thanks again everyone!

Travel

MIA again here lately, we have been dealing with illness in the family. My MIL passed away and my sister has been in the hospital for about 6 weeks, crazy!! Her problem started out with a bladder infection and she is now laying in the hospital and pretty much can't move, her arms & legs are swollen like balloons!! Just a warning for everyone, if your Dr. tries to give you Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) don't take it!!!! After seeing what happened to my sister and talking with others this is a horrible drug!! Can't believe they don't take it off the market!! I'm so worried about my sister and afraid she is never going to come out of this.

I just had to take a little time this weekend and try get my mind off of it and created this piece for SSSS http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/ where the theme is Travel.
When I was a young girl we used to go over to my aunts house for the holidays and we took an old wooden bridge over the river to get there. Here I stuck to the song and put grandmother's on it. So I tried to recreate that scene for this piece, I didn't have much time so not the best but that's OK it was more about clearing my mind. Again I used the snow stuff I had laying around but really need to get some sparkly fluff, the stuff I have is to hard to work with!! I made the river using a piece of plastic and colored with stream alcohol inks then on other side I used the new snow cap alcohol ink, I likey!! The piece is held up using Tim's easel die cut, love it!!

Have a good one!!

Art Journal

Well I have been doing a little playing with a couple of pages for my art journal. Tried fooling around with gesso & sticky back canvas. They didn't turn out quite how I wanted them to but I tried and they will go in the journal. They do look better in person then in the pic! I have another page I would like to get done before leaving for Kansas on Fri.
I'm so excited for that, I couldn't go on Tim's cruise so I decided to splurge and take all four of his classes at Stampers Ink in Kansas!! I have seen him demo and have done a few of his make & takes but I have never gotten to take a class with him, I'm beyond excited!!
Finally got my shirt done that I made to wear at one of the classes, that was a chore!! Like I said before, me and that Yudu machine do not get along!! It's not perfect but after all that work, I will be wearing it!! lol After the classes I will be headed to my son's and visit with his wife & little boy for a couple of days, excited to see them!! Hoping to get a chance to skype with Shad!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

Memorabilia Box for CCC #35

For this weeks CCC (last one, boo hoo) on Linda's blog the challenge is Design Details. I wanted to use some of the new toys that I have gotten. I started out with a whole different plan in mind and chucked it then went with something else then chucked it, wasted a lot of time and I just could not not participate in the last challenge!! Finally ended up with a travel box for memorabilia.

I always have memorabilia from trips etc. and wanted a box to store them in until I figured out a good use for them. I don't have much of the technique called for in the challenge on it but it's there. And oh I had fun using some of the new things I have added to my stash recently!! I did the tag with Broken China Distress Stains then added a little peeled paint Distress Inks here & there on it. And yes, I kinda did the tag like Tim did on his last blog post, I had just gotten the stamps so it was nice to see an idea for them. The new Distress Stains are absolutely wonderful, love them!!! And the Old Jalopy die cut and travel stamps are pretty awesome to! Stampers Anonymous has the best stamps!!

Top of box

I'm leaving Sun. for another trip, going to go see our son Shad & his family in Kansas, so excited to see them! Shad is in the Army and leaves for Afghanistan the first part of April, so it will be a bitter sweet visit. After all these years you'd think I would be used of it, but I hate it!! So the major worrying will begin again for another year!! Shad's little boy Kevin is 4 years old now, so it is going to be harder for him this time around!! Hey, on a happier note I found out I'm going to be a grandma again, our son Joey & his wife are going to have another baby this Sept. I have 4 grandsons now so I'm really hoping they have a girl, will she be spoiled or what!! lol

I have to pay more attention to my shopping, I ordered Tim's small Visual Artistry stamps and I already had them!! So how about a give away, just leave a comment and I will choose a random winner on Mon. 3/21/11 when I get back.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Sewing Room Die Cut/Distress Stains

Wow, 3 posts in one week that is a record for me!! Wish I could do that more often!!

When we went on our scrapbooking weekend we stopped off at the scrapbooking store before we headed out (of course) as if we needed anymore product but it is always fun to have something new to work with! They had a couple of Tim's new die cuts in, Oh My Goodness I think I was actually shaking when I got his new Sewing Room die cut in my grubby little hands!! lol
I also had ordered the new Distress Stains and they came in the mail Thurs. so yesterday I finally had a chance to play with the die cut & stains. Love, love, love those stains, can't wait to try it on a bigger project, they will be awesome for that!!

The picture isn't the best but here is the tag I made. I used the die cut on grunge board, then cut just the dress part out of sticky back canvas. I used peeled paint distress stain for the background on the tag, and wild honey for the dress. I had to dress it up a little and used Tim's ribbon on the bottom of the dress, I used glossy accents on the button. I put twine around the spool piece for thread which was a little thick, will have to look for something thinner for the next one. I also stamped on the background with Tim's Visual Artistry small clear stamps, which are really cool! Absolutely love the Sewing Room die cut and the Distress Stains are to die for!! Lot's of fun!!

Have a good weekend everyone!!

CCC #27/Distress Misting Mask

Here is my entry for CCC #27 Distress Misting Mask on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com/ I have never tried this technique before so I really wanted to get something done for this challenge. So I squeezed a little bit of it in before I went to work the other day, first attempt didn't work, oh my not much time hurry or you are going to be late for work, I said what the heck and took the time to try it again! So I managed to get the masking part done! Then I was to go watch my little grandson Jackson after work and there was pending high winds in the forecast after snowing all day so I wasn't sure if I would make it home or not so I hurried up and through a bag together and another bag with stuff to try finish this tag, and of course forgot a lot of stuff!! It all worked out I got to work on time and the winds didn't get as high as forecasted and I made it home that night well about 3:30 in the morning, kids! So I was able to finish it yesterday, WHEW!! This is a really cool technique, I used rusty hinge, crushed olive and wild honey mixed with a little gold perfect pearls.

And here I am again trying to rush through a blog post before I have to head out and about again!! Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for the winner of the Tim Holtz die cut!!
Have a good one!

Happy New Year/CCC#25

Happy New Year Everyone!!

I found a little time the other night to do a tag using Scribble Stain Distress technique out of Tim's book for the CCC#25 on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com. I have done this technique a few times and always get a little to much scribble!! lol

We are having a quiet New Year's Eve & Day snowed in, we have a good old ND blizzard going on and the interstates and roads are all closed! I couldn't get my car out of the garage if I wanted to, we have a 6ft. drift in front of it!! Sunday looks like a dig out day!! YUK, YUK, YUK!!!!
I have gotten a few doubles of things lately...like Tim's die cuts, so come back and visit my blog next week for a little giveaway.
Hope everyones new year will be wonderful!!

Tag #5 & 12

I managed to get a couple more tags done, I actually started #5 before the other two I posted, slow or what!!! lol For #5 I didn't have any green crackle paint so I used peeled paint distress ink then went over it with rock candy crackle. I got it on a little thick and it really picked it up in the picture, it really isn't that bad in person. I don't have any sparkly fluff so put stickles on Santa's hat as it looks like it has holly around it to me. I also didn't have Tim's numbers, well I have them but must have used all of the 2's & 5's so these metal numbers were a lot smaller and a lot harder to work with! I also don't have any white utee so I just used clear on it. What a fun technique though!!

Love tag #12, the movers & shapers are so fun to work with!! After I put my rock candy crackle paint on I thought you could heat it but oh it started looking funny so stopped, thank goodness or it would have really been messed up!! And of course the pic really picked it up!! Darn camera's magnifying all my mistakes!!!! And now that it is so cold & snowy out I can't take the pics outdoors anymore and I just can't get the lighting right taking them indoors!! Spring hurry up and get here!!! lol I don't have Tim's December stamp but I had picked up these cool Tim ATC stamps at Michaels the other day, didn't even know about them!! It was just a part of the stamp so it is smaller so I had to put some cardstock behind it. These stamps were just hanging on the side of an end cap, I almost missed them!!! Our Michaels carries very little of Tim's stuff so I was quite surprised when I seen them!! And I got them for $4.79 a piece, wow I was excited!!
I'm still hoping to at least finish one more tag before Christmas the poinsettia one, it looks so pretty!! The rest of the tags just might have to wait until after Christmas.

Have a good one everyone!!

Chirstmas Pennant Swap

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! We had a very nice Thanksgiving, my son Joey had Thanksgiving dinner at his house so all I had to do was make the scalloped corn, boy that was nice!! Landi left her boys here with us until Sun. so I was busy, busy, busy!!! They keep you on your toes from morning until night!! Fun to have around though, and poor Maddie today is lost without them, all she wants me to do is hold her! I did get my pennants done for the 2010 Christmas Pennant Swap on ATT and got them in the mail. Caidin & I were up early on Sat. morning so before Bridger woke up I got Caidin busy doing a project and I got them finished, I was getting a little worried I wouldn't get them done on time, whew!! So here is what I did with them, I didn't make any holes so that people can hang them the way they want. I wish I would have taken a picture of all 11 of them together!

So here is a pic of the little rug rats I watched all weekend, so cute!! And they made their grannie go out in freezing weather!!! Needless to say I didn't last very long!!
And they helped me decorate the tree, Bridger liked putting everything in one spot, I'm doing a little re-arranging today! lol
I'm also playing with this today the VAGABOND, I had a weak moment one night and ordered it. Another die cutting machine is really the last thing I needed!! But WOW am I ever glad I did, my goodness it cuts like butter and the machine is so quite, I'm in love!!! A great deal from Eclectic Paperie and they threw in a few goodies to boot!! Great place to order from!! Thank you Eclectic Paperie!!

Stormy weather her again today, internet connection keeps going in and out, it has taken me most of the day to post this! grrrrrr!!!!
Thanks everyone for all the nice comments!! Have a good one everyone!!

CCC#22/SSSS

I haven't been able to participate in the challenges for a couple of weeks on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com
or on SSSS http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com. It's been super crazy here at home & at work and have had no time to be creative. So I took a little time last night and made this card using the Alcohol Ink Spatter technique which you need to get Tim's book A Compendium of Curiosities and find out how it is done.
It was a little more challenging then I thought it would be, after a couple of tries I called it good. And yes I stamped the post card crooked, no time to do over!!
I have been working on my pendants for the Christmas Pendant swap on ATT group when I get a chance, hope to have them done and in the mail next week and I'll post a picture. Here is my entry for both challenges...

Have a good one!

CCC#18

The challenge this week for CCC#18 on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com is Dabber Resist. Boy do I need to practice this technique!! This was my fourth try and I called it good. I wanted to use the chandelier stamp that I had gotten when I went to ScrapFest, I really can't believe I haven't used it until now!! The technique is interesting and maybe if I would have used a different stamp it might have worked better, who knows!! It is always fun trying something new! On last weeks challenge my name was drawn, Woo Hoo what a way to start on a Mon. I was flying high all day!!! I won two of Tim's new die cuts, the leaf one and the witch, the die cuts were donated by Simon Says Stamp www.simonsaysstamp.com I can't wait until they arrive and I can start playing with them!! Thank you to Linda & Simon Says Stamp!!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

CCC#13

Here is my entry for Challenge 13...Grungepaper Flowers on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com/. I love making grunge flowers and have done a lot of them. This time I wanted to try Tim's Tissue Tape on them. I inked them with alcohol inks, you can still see the wording through using them. I had ordered Wendy's Art Parts and just got them in the mail, so of course had to play with them. I used the Tissue Tape on the frame also, love that stuff!! Wendy's Art Parts are fantastic and easy to work with, love them!! Now on to the spool!!

Have a good one!

SSSS...Show your Layers

Here's my entry for SSSS http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com the challenge this week is Simon Says Stamp and Show Your Layers. I had planned on doing something totally different but had just watched Suze Weinbergs video on layering bees wax over on Ranger Ink that stuck in my head! I've been wanting to try working with bees wax and have had it for awhile. I've also have had this flower that I had made with Ten Seconds Studio metal and never found the right project to use it on. I used one of Tim's Lost & Found papers which I have to admit wasn't one of my favorites and thought I would probably never use it, HA!! I toned it down a little by stamping flourishes on it. It has 3 layers of bees wax on it, the frame has 2 layers of bees wax and perfect pearls. I stamped & cut out the butterflies & leaves out of Ten Seconds Studio metal, put them through one of Tim's embossing folders and sprayed a little Maya Road Mists on them. Oh, and did I mention the nasty blister my finger got from cleaning out the melting pot, I was even being careful!!

Thanks again for all the nice comments, and taking a look at my blog!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and be safe!

Have a good one!

CCC wk#5

This weeks challenge on Linda's blog was to use Distress Embossing Powder. I used Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Powder for the frame. When I first saw the stamp of the lady, I thought I would probably never get that one. But the more I seen it used I thought it was pretty cool. Now I have used her in a few projects and love the stamp! I've been working on a project for a few weeks now, finally sat down and finished yesterday! I will post it tomorrow.

CCC wk#3

Here's my submission for the Compendium of Curiosities challenge week#3 over on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com . This has been so much fun! I have had Tim's book for quite awhile and have done some of the techniques, but this challenge is inspiring me to try ones that I might not have gotten around to for awhile. I used one of Tim's embossing folders on this one.

I have been doing a lot of classes at work, one the other night that my boss asked if I would do at the spur of the moment, 6 women wanted to do the class that we had done the previous week that they weren't able to attend, don't want to discourage anyone from the classes so I agreed! Talk about stress, I was flying around like a mad women trying to get things cut out and ready. The project had a lot of pieces to cut out and granted Tim's die cuts makes it easier but wow, don't think I want to do that again! I also have been doing kids classes every Tues. the class is supposed to be limited to 10-12 students but my boss is letting more students in and the classes have been averaging 15+, TO MANY!!!! She is such a softy!! Getting smart though, NO PAINTING!!! They wouldn't be quite so bad if they were all the same age, but they range in age from 5 to 13. Never thought I would say it, but I'm looking forward to the end of summer!! Speaking of summer, we have been super hot here 93 yesterday and supposed to be 95 or above today! We get such high humidity that it get's unbearable to be outside!! Guess I will just have to stay inside and play!! Yayyy!! I'm hoping to get a few projects done this weekend (my other tote for one).

Hope all of you have a wonderful 4th of July!!

Have a good one!!
