12 Tags of 2012/March

Bad blogger here!! I can't believe I haven't blogged in this long!! It has been a whirlwind of a last couple of months, first CHA then back at the grind working long, long hours!! Then our son & family came home for a visit, even though you know he is back in the states it doesn't seem real until you see him! It was a short visit but it was so nice to see him and know he is safe!!

So I had a chance to play a little last night and made a tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 www.timholtz.typepad.com. His mosaic butterflies are gorgeous!! I didn't have everything he used so I improvised a little. At first I was thinking this was a little to putsy for me but once I got them done I loved them and hope to do some more using the right embossing powder. It was just fun to finally get a chance to play in the craft room!!

Have a good one!

Happy Birthday Tim Holtz

Whew!! I got it done in time, not midnight yet. Over on Linda Ledbetters blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com we are celebrating Tim Holtz's Birthday by making him cards. Do you ever have one of those days where no matter what things just don't go right? Yep, had one of those days today!! Finally got his card done, a little sloppy on the happy birthday banner, my hand writing is big and I just couldn't write small enough for it to fit, do over 4 times and called it good! lol I used Wendy Vecchi http://studio490art.blogspot.com little boy stamp, I figured he wouldn't mind as they are good friends! But really wanted to get one done for him, he provides us with such inspiration just couldn't skip this one!! Check out his blog at www.timholtz.typepad.com. So Happy Birthday Tim, hope you are enjoying your happy place!!

Have a good one!

Halloween

Hey everyone, hope you are all having a good week!! When I seen the themes of Simon Says Stamp and Show http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com and Grungy Mon. on Linda Ledbetter's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com on Mon. I got right on it and started this project and almost had it finished on Mon. Then a couple of ten hour days at work and a couple more to come I stayed up last night and got it done!! I think my witchy poo was still a little wet when I photographed this! lol

I thought it would be fun to make a Halloween decoration and put a light behind it. So I took a picture matt and adhered a piece of Tim's Kraft Resist paper on it. Then another piece under with the rickety house then decorated with other die cuts. It does look really cool in person all lite up!

Close up of the light behind it.
I've got to get a shake on and get to work!

Have a good one!

Boo Banner

Hey everyone, hope you had a nice weekend!! I had a pretty low key weekend and I was able to get this Boo Banner done for a class I will be doing at work. Now after seeing these pics I think I need to add something else to them, not sure what but they need something, maybe some spiders? Again not the best pics, I think I need a photography class!! lol I used Tim Holtz die cuts, stickles etc. it was a lot fun putting this together!

We have another beautiful day here in ND, 81 degrees out and I'm loving it!! It won't be much longer and the snow will be flying! YUK !! Gotta take advantage of all the nice days we can get, I love fall with all the beautiful colors!!

Travel

MIA again here lately, we have been dealing with illness in the family. My MIL passed away and my sister has been in the hospital for about 6 weeks, crazy!! Her problem started out with a bladder infection and she is now laying in the hospital and pretty much can't move, her arms & legs are swollen like balloons!! Just a warning for everyone, if your Dr. tries to give you Ciprofloxacin (Cipro) don't take it!!!! After seeing what happened to my sister and talking with others this is a horrible drug!! Can't believe they don't take it off the market!! I'm so worried about my sister and afraid she is never going to come out of this.

I just had to take a little time this weekend and try get my mind off of it and created this piece for SSSS http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/ where the theme is Travel.
When I was a young girl we used to go over to my aunts house for the holidays and we took an old wooden bridge over the river to get there. Here I stuck to the song and put grandmother's on it. So I tried to recreate that scene for this piece, I didn't have much time so not the best but that's OK it was more about clearing my mind. Again I used the snow stuff I had laying around but really need to get some sparkly fluff, the stuff I have is to hard to work with!! I made the river using a piece of plastic and colored with stream alcohol inks then on other side I used the new snow cap alcohol ink, I likey!! The piece is held up using Tim's easel die cut, love it!!

Have a good one!!

Christmas Creative Blocks

Hey everyone, hope you're having a great week!

I had so much fun doing Tim Holtz Creative Blocks Class in Kansas that I wanted to do one with a Christmas theme. All of his classes were fabulous!! I used paper from Tim's seasonal pack on this project, love that paper!! I didn't have any Sparkly Fluff so used something else not good, so I stopped and I will have to buy some Sparkly Fluff and add to it.

So this is going to be my entry for SSSS http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com where the theme this week is show a Tim Holtz technique. This was such a fun project to do!! Thanks to Tim for the class!!

Have a good one!

Grungy Monday #2

Here is my entry for Grungy Monday over on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com which is celebrating techniques by Tim Holtz www.timholtz.com. I will also use this piece for the entry on SSSS http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com where this week it is show anything but a card. I have been working on something different for that one but it is not going to be done in time so this will have to do. I made a tag using Tim's new Kraftresist paper, oh I'm liking that paper!! Then did the technique which you will have to visit Linda's blog to find out how. Never tried it before and I love it!! Then I decorated it with Tim's new die cuts, Mini Bird & Cage Set & Mini Branch & Leaf Set, they are so cute!! Also added some ideaology pieces. Hopefully I will get the other project done and can show you next week. Have a good one!! Donna

Artist Canvas

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, I'm finally feeling a little better. I made this little project using an 8 x 8 x 1 1/2 canvas. It's not what I had intended to do with it but I started playing and this is what I got, but I love it!! Still need to figure out what to put on the sides though. This will be my entry for Simon Says Stamp and show where the challenge is Show a Hat http://simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com/. The art chicks hat is made with Wendy Vecchi's (http://studio490art.blogspot.com) Clearly for Art and covered with Sticky Back Canvas, the butterfly was made with Wendy's Black Clearly for Art, the bottle was also made from CFA & Art Parts. That was the first time I had a chance to use CFA and I love it!! I also used sticky back canvas on the dress form. I used some of Tim's new ideaology on it and Wendy's new Art Parts, so much fun!! I used the new distress stains on most of it. I'm in love with those new distress stains and Wendy's CFA and Art Parts!!! So fun to play with!! And Tim's die cuts, love them!! The sign says I am an artist, not really but it sounds good!! lol Have a good one everyone!! Donna

Trinket Boxes

Michael's has these cute little wood boxes for $1.00! I have done some before if you search my blog for wallet/coupon holder & eye glass holder you will see the other ones I have done. I tried to copy and paste the photo here but didn't work, if any one knows how to do that I would appreciate any help!! I have made these for gifts etc., and I have done a few classes with them. When I went to Michael's the other day they had a different shape wood box and this is what I did with them. The Easter one I was going to put a little decorated egg on top but decided I liked it just the way it was, can't cover up that cool Tim H. seasonal paper!! lol

I'm off this afternoon to my daughters then in the morning we take off for our scrapbooking weekend, can't wait!! I have so much stuff I'm bringing, and today I'm stopping off at a scrapbook store on my way to my daughters, as if I need anymore!! But should be fun!!
Thank you all for the nice comments!! I appreciate them!!

CCC/SSSS

I had a chance to play the other night and made a tag for the SSSS and CCC over on Simon Says Stamp and Show and Studio L3 blogs. I'm thinking spring here, we had temps around 40 for a few days and I have spring fever big time!! The warmer weather didn't last long and we are cold again and possible storm this weekend, oh yay!!

So I tried my hand at making a stamp from Tim's birdcage die cut out of foam and also made a mask, worked pretty good! I loved the technique used out of Tim's book for this challenge and will have to try it again!!

Next week I'm going scrapbooking for the weekend, I have been telling my daughter that I'm going light and just taking what pics & paper I need, yay right!! I have been gathering my stuff and forgot how much stuff you need to bring!! Can't decide on what pics I want to do and what paper so I already have my big tote full and started on another one!! Then there is the cricut & cartridges and diecuts, and everything else!! I think my car is going to be pretty full and I still need to find room for clothes, food etc. I don't think I know what traveling light is!! lol Should be interesting!

Have a good one everyone!!

Winner

Thank you everyone for leaving such nice comments on my configuration box, I really appreciated them!! It was so much fun to do, a few of you asked where I got some of the items in the box, I bought a few of the items at Michaels and I used some items that I had laying around the house. The car was one of them that I had laying around and really don't know where it came from, the penny in the jar was my dads, when I was younger the thing fascinated me as I always wondered how they got that penny in there? The little coo-coo clock was a pin I had picked up in Germany when my son was stationed over there and I just took the pin part off. The domino & grunge flower I made. I used Tim's Lost and Found papers inside & out on it. If you haven't done one of these yet do, they are so fun!!
So, I have had a couple days off and so has my DH which means I haven't gotten anything creative done. I never get anything done when he is around!! lol But we have been shopping the last couple days so hasn't been all bad as I have managed to pick up a few things I needed to go to CHA with at the end of the month, which I'm so excited for!! Can't wait to see all of Tim & Wendy's goodies in person!!

Well on to the giveaway, I did a random draw and the winner is K...grannyso@yahoo.com, Congratulations K and send me your address and I will get the flourish die cut in the mail to you.

I have another die cut to giveaway, so stop back tomorrow for a chance to win it. Hopefully I'll have something creative to share to. Thanks again everyone for leaving such nice comments!!
Have a good one!

CCC#13

Here is my entry for Challenge 13...Grungepaper Flowers on Linda's blog http://studiol3.blogspot.com/. I love making grunge flowers and have done a lot of them. This time I wanted to try Tim's Tissue Tape on them. I inked them with alcohol inks, you can still see the wording through using them. I had ordered Wendy's Art Parts and just got them in the mail, so of course had to play with them. I used the Tissue Tape on the frame also, love that stuff!! Wendy's Art Parts are fantastic and easy to work with, love them!! Now on to the spool!!

Engraved Grunge Board

Long time no see!! Geezzzz, May was super busy for me, family obligations etc.

Shad & family made a quick trip up here for Memorial Day Weekend from Kansas, so Landi & boys came up to. Joey had us all over to his house for a BBQ on Sat. everyone had a good time especially the kids, it was 92 degrees out and very humid so the boys had a lot of fun in the pool, it doesn't happen very often that I have all 4 grandsons in the same place so it was special, here are a few pics.....

I started this project before everyone came, finally got it done!
We do framing where I work so there is always scraps of matt board around. One day when I went into work my boss had cut out a couple 5x7 pieces and had some metal corners and a nifty little machine to put the corners on with. She asked if I could come up with something with it to do a class on, OH YEAH the wheels started turning (I think I scare her sometimes)! lol
So I put the corners on the matt board with the cool machine (can't remember the name of it) and brought the pieces home to start playing. Tim had posted a cool album on his blog which I really liked so I did the front cover kinda like that.

The inside of the cover I did this.....

Is this to cool or what, I engraved on grunge board!!! It also works on grunge paper! I wasn't sure if it was going to work but it worked just great!!! I didn't want to stamp the letters on the sign (I wouldn't have gotten them straight) and didn't want to cut letters on the cricut and I didn't have any small enough letters so the engraving worked out perfectly! Wheels are turning again on something else to make and engrave on the grunge board & paper. So excited it worked!!! I got the embossing folders just in time to try it on this piece, love them!! The album class will be June 23rd, come join me!

Have a good one!!

Tim Holtz die cut album

My 6 yr. old grandson loves my new puppy Maddie. He was with us when we picked her out. He knew I had taken some pictures of him & Maddie and has been asking if I could get him some of the pictures, and I keep forgetting (bad grandma here)!! Anyway, I'm going to see him this weekend so I made up this little album with some of the pictures in it for him made with Tim Holtz die cuts. Nothing fancy, after all a 6 yr. old is going to be carrying it around so didn't get to fancy with it.

These dies are so easy to take a little chipboard and some paper and you have a cute little album. I used movers & shapers baroque with the repostionable magnetic die for the holes and movers & shapers styled lables for the matts behind the pictures. Also, used heart wings & regal crest. I did get the holes a little to far down, will have to watch that next time. Another thing, make sure you cut the chipboard & paper at the same time as if you go back and try line up the holes, it doesn't work to well, trust me!! I truly love these die cuts!! I took these pictures inside so not the best as there was no way I was going outside to take them, cold, rainy & windy day here today!!!

Have a good one!

Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Cut Layouts

Hope everyone had a GREAT Inter-National Scrapbook Day/weekend!! I managed to get a little scrapbooking done. Still having fun with my Tim Holtz Sizzix die cuts!!!! This layout is of all 4 of my grandson's....

I used sandable coordinations paper and Movers & Shapers die cut to matt the pictures. I also used Heart Wings, Elegant Flourishes & Hardware Findings die cuts.

The next one is of the youngest grandson's birthday party...

It is a double layout but for the life of me I can not get it to upload, so here are parts of it...

I wanted to do something different to put on the edge of the pictures so I used the Gadget Gears die cut. They were fun to do!!

Thanks again everyone for all your nice comments and visiting my blog regularly!!

Have a good one everyone!!

Wallet/Coupon Holder

Happy Monday everyone! I just got back from the cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul) yesterday, it was a nice get away! Went to a frame moulding appreciation day, then shopped and ate the rest of the time. Fun to just get away!

Remember all those photos in my last post I was going to get scrapped, well a quick trip into town to get a few pieces of paper to get them done with, lead to this...

A little wallet/coupon holder. Ohhh how I love my Wendy (Studio490) stamps!!! I did this one up real quick, so will need to do another one and perfect it a little. I will be doing a class on these the middle of May. Needless to say I never got all those pictures scrapped! Will have to try find some time this week to work on them.

Thanks again everyone for all your nice comments! I appreciate them!!!!

Have a good one!
